SRPD,
I think it’s great that you guys setup this web site for Lucia! I know her injuries are very severe and she faces a long, long, long recovery. Thank you for all you do.
Lucia,
I just wanted to cry when I saw the news. We are pulling for you Lucia. To think all you wanted to know was, “Did they catch him?” YOU ARE SO STRONG!
Lucia and SRPD,
I am a Sgt. and 10 year veteran with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department in Athens, GA. On 12/11/07, I encountered a mentally disturbed subject in a grocery store. During a violent altercation, I sustained 10 stab wounds and lost a nearly fatal amount of blood. I have not been able to return to work at this time as my recovery is still in progress.
The community where I live came together to support me through several public fundraising events – they were there when I needed them the most. I encourage the citizenry to come together and support this fallen protector of peace. Rehabilitation is a long slow process with numerous costs financially, mentally and physically. Please donate to Officer Wade. Be Strong my friend!

Lucia and SRPD,
I am a Sgt with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office in California and was struck by a DUI driver while on a traffic stop three years ago this month. I was outside of my patrol car when I was hit also. I was thrown over the hood of the car and into a guardrail. My heart goes out to you and your family. I know first hand the pain you must be experiencing. It took me 6 months to recover from my injuries. There will be many dark days on your road to recovery but in the end you will be stronger for it. Remember to keep looking ahead and remember you have a huge support system in your fellow peace officers. Stay strong my sister.
My dear friend Lucia,
I am so so sorry you are going through this. I remember you coming to our house after my accident and making sure I had everything I needed. If there was any way I could do the same for you, you know I would be there. I still can’t believe this has happened to you. I am praying for you every day. I am so grateful to God that you are still here with us. As soon as you can have visitors, Alexi and I will be driving down there!
To my friends at SRPD: Thank you so much for taking care of Lucia and for getting updates out to those of us who are farther away then they would like to be.
My family’s prayers and thoughts are with you. You helped me just that morning with my moving truck stranded on Santa Rosa Avenue and helped divert traffic and keep me a bit saner chatting with me about moving and kids we know in common. Get better…the world needs more people/officers like you.
Lucia-
I’ve always been amazed by your courage and strength. This is one of the hardest fights of your life and as always, I know you will come out on top. You have helped me through so many tuff times in the beginning of our careers. Know that you and Monica are in my thoughts and prayers. I can’t wait to come and visit with you. Stay strong GIRL! We are all fighting with you!
Dear Officer Wade,
I am so glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery. You and all the other fine men and women that serve the public never can get enough praise and thanks for all that you do. Please know that there are many of us whom you have never met, who have you in our thoughts and prayers, and hope for your quick recovery. Keep your chin up and hang in there. Your strength will pull you through.
Thank you!
T. Douglass
