SANTA ROSA, California - On Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 5:33 p.m., two officers were conducting a security check at the Denny’s Restaurant on Baker Avenue.  Moments later, one of the officers, Lucia Wade, radioed that she was in foot pursuit of a felony wanted suspect.  As Lucia chased the suspect across Santa Rosa Avenue, she was struck by a car. The second officer called for emergency assistance.

Lucia sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.  She is currently hospitalized in stable condition, but she has sustained major head and facial injuries. She cannot have visitors or flowers.

Lucia now faces the fight of her life. She will be out of work for a substantial amount of time as she heals from major injuries, and she is likely to incur substantial loss of income and increased expenses as a result of her injuries.
