Today’s update – it’s been a long two weeks for Lucia
Sunday Morning, Oct. 25, ‘09. Yesterday Lucia enjoyed a brief outdoor appearance, stepping out on her back deck with the help of a hiking stick. She described the experience as,literally, “a breath of fresh air.” She is still on heavy pain meds, and sleeps a lot. She is getting impatient with being confined, which we take as a positive sign. So far, we are encouraged with the pace of her recovery, although she can’t believe why it is taking “so long.” Cody is impatient for those three mile walk/runs, but is trying to understand. (from Alan Wade, Lucia’s father).

Thanks for the updates. Lucia I’m glad you got outside on such a beautiful day. I’ve been thinking about you all the time. I was up at Lake Natoma racing yesterday remembering going up there with you to race years ago.
Thank you Alan for the updates. I am sure the ladies appreciate you getting the info out to everyone!
So happy to read you are home, in very good hands. And thanks so much to your dad for all the updates. I am encouraged to learn of your progress, you impatient patient! All the best for your continued healing. With love, Donna and Ginnie
A fellow Smith soccer player forwarded this website to me. I am so sorry to hear about this accident, but am very glad to know that Lucia is in good hands and is surrounded by and supported by her friends, family and community. Please let Lucia and Monica know that their friends on the east coast are thinking of them and praying for them, and wish Lucia all the best for her continued recovery. Love, Jenny “Juanita” Cooper
